Director (known as Partner)
Iain joined Nicholas & Co in January 2023, bringing a wealth of expertise in company and commercial matters. His particular areas of specialism including advising on international supply chains and the protection of branding and intellectual property, but he also enjoys working in the fields of company transactions, data protection and regulatory law.
He works with clients throughout the entire spectrum, from entrepreneurs and start-up companies, through SMEs and family-owned businesses, to well-known High Street brands, multi-national companies and Governmental organisations, but he’s never more at home than when supporting the ‘David’ in contractual negotiations with a ‘Goliath’.
Described by one client has having “infinite patience”, his responsiveness to often high-value, complex and cross-border issues was compared by another as being “as fast as a Porsche rounds Brands Hatch”. Other client testimonials refer to his “ability to see the wood from the trees” and providing “good, solid, sound advice at very quick notice”. He has written contracts that have received a Crystal Mark for clarity by the Plain English Campaign, thus proving that writing impenetrable jargon is not necessary in the legal sector. He has also been recognised by name on more than 25 occasions since 2010 in the Legal 500 independent directory of law firms for his work in the company/commercial, intellectual property, IT/telecoms and charity/not-for-profit sectors.
Outside of office life, Iain will normally be found running somewhere over the roads and fields of his native Gloucestershire, and completed a virtual 874-mile run from Land’s End to John O’Groats during the 2021 lockdown. He enjoys the odd round of golf, and can drive a go-kart relatively quickly. He can claim to have been a former UK Playstation gaming champion back in his younger days before it became a money-making career choice.
