Leasehold Enfranchisement

The Leasehold Reform (Housing and Urban Development) Act 1993, as amended (“the Act”), has provided leaseholders with a legal right to extend their existing leases by 90 years in addition to the existing lease term, reducing the ground rent to a peppercorn rent provided they qualify.

We have acted for both landlords and tenants over the years in dealing with the process either informally, where a private agreement is reached, or via the statutory route where a notice is served or received under the Act from a landlord or a tenant, as the case may be.

Our team can assist you every step of the way. We have the knowledge and experience to overcome any challenges that may arise in your case. In some cases we have been able to improve our client’s legal title by varying the leasehold covenants in older leases. We always look to maximise the beneficial outcome for our clients.
